Taiwan Industrial Production Growth Remains Lackluster

Taiwan's industrial production continued its modest growth in September, preliminary figures from the Ministry of Economic Affairs showed on Tuesday.

Industrial production grew 1.54 percent year-on-year following a revised 1.07 percent growth in August. Economists had expected 1.60 percent growth. Production rose 4.69 percent in July.

Manufacturing output increased 2 percent after a 1.53 percent rise in the previous month. Mining and quarrying output dropped for a thrid straight month, down 9.97 percent.

Electricity and gas supply output shrunk 3.09 percent and water supply decreased 0.25 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production grew 2.25 percent in September after a 0.55 percent increase in the previous month.
